Anthropic has launched Claude for Financial Advisors, a package of connectors and workflow skills that links its assistant to major wealth-management systems. The September 14 release brings BlackRock, Charles Schwab, Addepar and other financial platforms into adviser tasks such as meeting preparation, portfolio review and client follow-up.
The product is designed to reduce the time advisers spend assembling records across custodians, planning software, customer databases and portfolio tools. It does not authorize Claude to make unsupervised investment decisions: recommendations, client communications, compliance determinations and other regulated work remain subject to human review and approval.
Claude for Financial Advisors combines four operational layers:
- Connectors to custodians, portfolio systems, CRMs and planning tools
- Skills for meetings, portfolios, onboarding and documentation
- Compliance checks against firm rules and the SEC Marketing Rule
- Human approval for critical, client-facing and regulated actions

Claude for Financial Advisors Connects the Wealth-Management Stack
Anthropic’s official announcement describes a broad integration layer rather than a single finance chatbot. New connectors cover portfolio reporting, custodial records, financial plans, customer histories, estate documents, meeting transcripts and alternative-investment data, allowing an adviser to gather permitted information in one working context.
Charles Schwab’s connector can provide balances, positions, transactions, cost basis, alerts and money-movement status from Schwab Advisor Services. BlackRock contributes model portfolios, portfolio-construction expertise and institutional analytics through Advisor Center, while Addepar supplies governed portfolio data and analysis across public and private markets.
The other named connections extend the same approach across the adviser’s software stack. Envestnet links Tamarac account summaries and MoneyGuide planning snapshots; Orion combines portfolio reporting with Redtail CRM information; and SS&C Black Diamond can surface performance, holdings and rebalancing data for adviser review.
iCapital adds information about alternative investments, including net asset value, commitments, unfunded capital and recent activity. Wealthbox contributes client records and meeting history, Wealth.com organizes estate and tax information, Vanguard supplies research and model-portfolio resources, and Zocks brings structured context captured from adviser-client conversations.
Those services join Claude connections that Anthropic already offers for Microsoft 365, Salesforce, DocuSign, Box, FactSet, S&P Global and Morningstar. The adviser plugin bundles supported connectors with task-specific skills, while each firm chooses which systems to activate during guided setup.
Advisor Skills Cover Meetings, Portfolios and Follow-Up
The package turns connected information into repeatable workflows instead of leaving every adviser to build prompts from scratch. A pre-meeting skill consolidates holdings, recent account activity and unresolved items from earlier conversations into a brief that the adviser can inspect before speaking with a client.
A post-meeting workflow can transform a transcript into a summary, draft recap email and CRM tasks. Prospect intake organizes information for the first meeting, while the onboarding skill connects a firm’s tools and runs an initial meeting-preparation workflow for a newly hired adviser.
Portfolio work is similarly staged for review. A rebalancing skill flags allocation drift and concentrated positions against a client’s target, then drafts an explanation. Another skill assembles alternative-investment holdings from iCapital or Addepar, reducing the manual reconciliation needed when private assets sit outside conventional portfolio reports.
Estate and tax preparation can compare available estate documents with account titles and beneficiary records, review prior-year tax information and stage follow-up tasks. These functions could make inconsistencies easier to find, but the accuracy of the result still depends on current source records, permissions and professional judgment.
Reuters confirmed the launch and its core use cases, including client-meeting preparation, portfolio reviews and follow-up work. The publication also reported that the release follows OpenAI’s finance-focused push, which targets investment bankers and equity researchers with research, modeling and client-material tools.
SEC Marketing Rule Checks Keep Advisers in Control
Financial advice is a regulated activity, so Anthropic has placed review checkpoints around actions that can affect clients. Claude prepares briefs, summaries and draft analyses, while administrative steps such as CRM updates and client communications are staged for approval rather than sent or executed automatically.
The compliance skill screens client-facing language against the SEC Marketing Rule and flags material that may require additional review under criteria configured by the firm. It can also help document review activity and guide firms through recording how they use AI within existing governance and recordkeeping processes.
That design is important because a connector can expose several categories of sensitive information in one session. Portfolio positions, transaction history, tax records, estate plans and meeting notes require strict access controls. An adviser-facing assistant must preserve the permissions of each source system and leave a traceable record of work performed.
Anthropic recommends its Enterprise plan for registered investment advisers because it includes audit logs intended to support recordkeeping. That recommendation is not a certification that every deployment automatically satisfies securities rules. Each firm remains responsible for supervision, retention policies, privacy controls and validation of information presented to clients.
Anthropic Targets Workflow Integration, Not Autonomous Advice
The release shows how enterprise AI competition is shifting from general chat toward software embedded across an industry’s existing systems. Claude’s value proposition here depends less on producing generic financial prose and more on retrieving authorized records, assembling context and moving preparatory work through controlled steps.
That strategy also gives partners a distribution role. Anthropic’s plugin works with BlackRock, Schwab, Addepar, Envestnet, iCapital, Orion, Wealthbox, Wealth.com and Zocks, while BlackRock is launching a separate Advisor Center plugin. Firms can adopt Anthropic’s packaged skills or adapt them to their own service model and house style.
The product is available now through Claude’s plugin browser, according to Anthropic. Its practical impact will depend on connector reliability, permission management, source traceability and whether the generated briefs actually reduce preparation time after mandatory human checks are included.
Advisers evaluating the system will need to measure factual accuracy, the quality of portfolio and compliance flags, the clarity of audit records and the frequency of required corrections. The launch gives Claude a larger role in wealth-management operations, but Anthropic’s own boundaries leave investment judgment and accountability with licensed professionals.
